Project:Eldon Square– Newcastle Upon Tyne
Client: Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd
Description: IPCL installed
30,000m2 of Glasroc Firecase Encasement system to
provide 120 minute fireprotection. The city centre location of
the site dictated that the ramifications of cutting this
quantity of board to size was both a major health and
environmental issue. We came up with an innovative idea and had
the materials supplied to site pre-cut. Logistically it was a major
exercise but, only 8 skips were required for waste material for
the entire project and the offcuts from the manufacturing
process were recycled by the manufacturer at source. An environmental triumph!

and a pro-active approach to the challenges on the project
ensured that the desired standard of finished was achieved on
time and within budget.

Project:Whiston & St Helens Hospital—North West
Client: Taylor Woodrow (Vinci) Ltd
Description: Firestopping & Acoustic sealing to service penetrations and air sealing to perimeters. These new build hospitals over two sites were mainly concrete frame and no structural protection was required. One problem which arose involved a UPVC pipework system running above suspended ceiling level which required a flexible fireprotection solution. A fire curtain conventionally used for dividing ceiling voids was assessed, fire tested and installed around the pipes to give a cost effective and unique solution and avoid delays to the project.
